About Palmetto

The United States Pony Clubs, Inc., develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding and mounted sports.

Palmetto Pony Club is for youth and adults.

Club members attend regularly held meeting with their ponies/horses for riding instruction, horse management training, and other activities.

Mounted meetings teach members to ride on the flat, over fences and in the open.

Unmounted sessions instruct members on topics of pony/horse handling and care, feeding, shoeing, veterinary knowledge, travel safety, and other areas of horse management.

Under adult supervision, the more experienced Pony Club members instruct and assist younger/novice members.

Programs are offered in eventing, show jumping, hunt seat equitation, dressage, quiz, and foxhunting.

Club members are encouraged to work their way through the ten stages of the progressive Standards of Proficiency, which test knowledge and riding ability.  Pony Club members who attain the H-B, B, H-A, and A rating levels meet standards of competence that are recognized throughout the horse world.  These upper-level members are very generous in giving back to the Pony Club community in many ways such as providing club instruction at the highest caliber available today by any standard.

Membership in Pony Club requires a strong personal and time commitment from our members and their parents/guardians.  If you are interested in Pony Club, we encourage you to attend one of our meetings to see if Pony Club is right for you.

USPC Pony Clubs and Riding Centers are assigned to one of 41 geographical regions, which are administered by a volunteer Regional Supervisor (RS) and other appointed and elected officers. Regions offer additional activities and opportunities for members and support for the club and center leaders under their administration. Palmetto Pony Club is part of the Carolina Region. Visit the region's website for the contact information for the Regional Officers.
